August 2006New Export Opportunities by RTP External Partner in Tajikistan
Export opportunities for arranging supplies of products outside of Tajikistan have been viewed as a way of further business expansion for the management of Dushanbe Metallurgical Factory, a supplier of metal products in Tajikistan. RTP External Partner in Tajikistan, the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Tajikistan, has been approached by Dushanbe Metallurgical Factory as a professional resource for identifying potential importers of metal products in countries neighboring to Tajikistan.

Mukhtor Ibragimov, Trade Specialist of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Tajikistan, has suggested developing trade relationships with Afghanistan importers of building materials as Afghanistan goes through the process of construction and rehabilitation of infrastructures that creates massive demand for building materials and supplies in the country. An offer to supply reinforcement bars by Dushanbe Metallurgical Factory have been circulated among known Afghanistan importers of building materials, including Gadazada Ltd. company in
Afghanistan.

The review of the offer to supply reinforcement bars has generated an initial interest by Gadazada Ltd. Negotiations on the product supply terms were followed by a visit of Gadazada Ltd. representative to Dushanbe to see the operation of the Dushanbe Metallurgical Factory and hold final discussions on the product supply terms. Parties have reached an agreement to sign a contract for a trial shipment of 120 tons of reinforcement bars by Dushanbe Metallurgical Factory to Gadazada Ltd. To guarantee the product shipment and effecting the payment for the product to be shipped the parties have also agreed to set the payment terms as a letter of credit. The value of the contract signed for the trial shipment amounted to $36,000.00.
Dushanbe Metallurgical Factory and Gadazada Ltd. view this trial shipment as the foundation for many contracts between the parties in the future.
