Association of Business Incubators and Techno - parks of Uzbekistan has been a client of USAID EDP since July 2003. In January 2004, ABIT was awarded USAID EDP grant on Regional Trade Partner (RTP)/ "Partner on "smetradecenter.net". Association Development Program of USAID EDP provided various types of technical assistance, such as consultation on association development, strategy development, informational support, Strategic Action Plan development and its implementation.

Trade specialists of ABIT have contacted over 200 companies and 110 of them were registered in business catalogue section of the "smetradecenter.net". They have facilitated 13 trade deals totaling USD147,000 compared to USD 130,000 planned in the project. In accordance with Strategic Action Plan ABIT plans to disseminate RTP achievements throughout Uzbekistan.

ABIT received another award; the Deputy Chairman got an approval from SABIT - SPECIAL AMERICAN BUSINESS TRAINING PROGRAM had a training and internship in the USA, September - October 2004 by virtue of technical assistance of USAID EDP.

All above indicated achievements of ABIT were planned in its Strategy assisted by AD consultant. The next step of technical assistance was Strategic Action Plan implementation. In accordance with ABIT's SAP it has been planned to establish Information and Communication Centers (ICC) in three regions of Uzbekistan that should provide full range of trade services to the members and clients. Following AD consultant technical assistance ABIT has developed RTP Business plan. SAP improves ABIT management capacity and encourages progress" - said Mr.Amanlikov, Chairman of ABIT. "Currently ABIT became on of the lead associations in Uzbekistan" - he pointed out.
