January 2006Osh client becomes competitive in the international market
The Agroelita Manufacturing and Commercial Cooperative was founded in 2004 by a group of entrepreneurs from Osh, Kyrgyzstan, to produce and arrange exports of dried fruits (apples, pears, and prunes), fruit and berry mixes, and dried vegetables grown in South Kyrgyzstan.
Agroelita's cooperation with the Osh EDC specialists covered all aspects of the cooperative's operations: from procurement of seeds to sale of the end products. In order to continue expansion, Agroelita identified entry into foreign markets and the supply of dried foodstuffs as their primary objectives.
In collaboration with Osh and Ferghana EDCs, the cooperative was able to establish contacts with suppliers of dried spices from Uzbekistan to be delivered to Agroelita to form a range of dried fruit products which could be marketed to prospective Russian buyers.
Osh EDC specialists helped the company hold negotiations with a wholesale procurement and trading company from Moscow. This assistance also included consultations on development of the cooperatives Russian partners commercial offer, consultations in the area of exports, and in details of import operations and procedures, and international delivery contracts. As a result of the assistance provided by Osh EDC, Agroelita was able to sign a $674,500 contract for delivery of prunes, dried peppers, and dill to the Russian Wholesaler.
Realization of the contract was a result of joint efforts of the Osh (Kyrgyzstan) and Ferghana (Uzbekistan) EDC consultants, who assisted the cooperative in identifying and resolving issues throughout the entire value chain, allowing them to become competitive on the international market.
