News and General Information

Asian American Net. The site offers Asia regional and country-specific materials. Each country on the Asian continent is listed under one of the five regional groups, i.e., Central Asia, East Asia/Far East, Middle East/West Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. The site includes listings of the local language, as well as English, on-line newspapers and magazines.

Eurasia Net. EurasiaNet provides information and analysis about political, economic, environmental and social developments in the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as in Russia, the Middle East, and Southwest Asia. The web site provides country information resources links, newsmaker interviews, book reviews and a discussion forum. EurasiaNet is operated by the Central Eurasia Project of the Open Society Institute.

Asia Times Online. Provides general news articles for Central Asia as well as news briefs for Asia as a whole.

The Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst is an online journal published by the Central Asia -- Caucasus Institute -- an independent research and policy institution, affiliated to the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at The Johns Hopkins University.  The caci.org website contains news and links to regional and countryresources.

Eurasia Research Center. The Eurasia Research Center Web Site features in depth research reports, news analysis, and links to newspaper articles and wire service reports for Central Asia, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Europe, and Russia.

World Bank Group. News and information for Europe and Central Asia.  Contains links to country information and World Bank projects in region.

International Trade Center database. Vast information on companies.   Many links to similar resources in Internet.

"Who Supplies What" business network. Contains information on 223 000 potential suppliers from 10 countries.

"World Trade Center" association. Has 300 members in 180 countries, offers catalogue of 140 000 importers, exporters and corresponding enterprises.

"Kompas" International Database. Contains information on 1.5 mln companies from 60 countries and 23 mln. goods items.

EventSource. Information on trade fairs and seminars. Fifty five thousand entries in the trade fairs database.

TSNN.com. Provides information on over 20 000 trade fairs and over 35 000 seminars and conferences. Fifty five thousand entries in the trade fairs database.

CA Trade. This website describes in a simple and understandable way the procedure for carrying on business in Central Asia, and offers some instruments that will be useful for those who are involved in business.

CIPA Program. The Certified International Professional Accountant (CIPA) is a world-class, fully IFAC compliant, Russian language professional accountancy certification. The objectives of the CIPA is to substantially raise the quality of the accounting profession in several countries of the former Soviet Union (FSU) through promoting IAS and ISA, and professional ethics.

CASME.net. It is an official website of the USAID Enterprise Development Project (EDP, implemented by The Pragma Corporation. To assist in USAID's goal of building pluralism and stability among the people and institutions of Central Asia, the EDP project is concerned with expanding opportunities for participation, livelihood and quality of life for the citizens of the five Central Asian republics. This they do by enhancing the competitiveness and managerial capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises.

BISNIS. BISNIS is the U.S. Government's primary market information center for U.S. companies exploring export and investment opportunities in Russia and Eurasia. BISNIS provides U.S. companies with the latest market reports and tips on developments, export and investment leads, and strategies for doing business in Russia and Eurasia.

Global Trade and Technology Network. GTN works to facilitate sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging markets through business linkages and technology transfer. The GTN trade platform is a worldwide provider of international trade lead services.

BUYUSA.com. With online trade leads and business opportunities, this website brings together exporters and importers of U.S. goods and services.

ITC. The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the technical cooperation agency of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the World Trade Organization for operational, enterprise-oriented aspects of trade development.

BISNIS. Business information for the NIS.  Includes news, country reports, industry reports, trade leads, events, publications, and customs information.  Main purpose is to promote trade between the NIS and the United States.  

Central Asia Commerce. Business Resource and Directory covering the Newly Independent States. CentralAsiaCommerce.com is essentially a directory of hyperlinks to sites that are pertinent to conducting business to or from the countries of Central Asia, which includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Links are organized by country and by industry. This site is available in English.

Asia Society's Asia Business - A resource for information on Asia business. General business information for Asia.

Eurasianet Business and Economics Archive provides articles/analysis of current affairs and business development issues for Eurasia. Also includes country-specific information. Available in English and Russian.

Business Directories

InfoCIS. Includes business listings and exchange information from the Russian community of the CIS: Armenia, Azerbajan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

RusMarket. Provides links and networking services to the Russian and Central Asian markets.

CANGO.net : Central Asia NGO Network (directory of NGOs in Central Asia; the database is organized by country and by activity).

NIS Business Organizations. Organized by country, this list is produced by Civil Society International. Available in English, although some CSI site information is also available in Russian.

Third Sector Organizations in Central Asia. (Independent Grassroots organizations based in the former Soviet Union).
